COVID-19 Update: Covid-19: 75 more cases in S’pore, over 90% locally transmitted; 3 new clusters at worker dorms

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced 75 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore on Saturday (April 4), bringing the total number of infections here to 1,189.

Of these, six are imported and had travel history to Europe, North and South America and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, while 69 are domestic cases with no recent travel history abroad.

Four more clusters of infections have also been identified. They are at Sungei Tengah Lodge, Toh Guan dormitory, Cochrane Lodge ll in Admiralty and The Orange Ballroom on Geylang Road.

One-third of the new clusters are at workers’ dormitories.

Of the 69 local cases, 40 infections were linked to previous cases or clusters. The authorities have not yet established links for the other 29 cases.

To date, 297 patients have fully recovered from the disease and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, including the 15 discharged on Saturday.

Patients From The Public Healthcare Sector

MOH highlighted four new cases from the public healthcare sector here.

Case 1137

She is a 24-year-old Malaysian who is a long-term pass holder with no recent travel history to affected countries or regions.

She reported onset of symptoms on April 2 and tested positive for Covid-19 on April 3.

Identified as a contact of Case 853, she was issued a home quarantine order on March 31. She is warded in an isolation room at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

She is employed as a porter at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She had not gone to work before she was hospitalised.

Case 1151

She is a 20-year-old Malaysian who is a Singapore work pass holder and has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions.

She reported onset of symptoms on March 31 and tested positive on April 3.

She is warded in an isolation room at Sengkang General Hospital (SKH).

She is employed as a healthcare assistant at SKH but had not gone to work since the onset of symptoms.

Case 1159

She is a 33-year-old Singaporean who has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions.

She reported onset of symptoms on April 3 and tested positive for Covid-19 on the same day. She is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

She is employed as a patient service associate at NCID, but had not interacted with any patients or visitors since she had symptoms.

Case 1170

She is a 54-year-old Singapore permanent resident who has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions.

She reported onset of symptoms on April 2 and was diagnosed with the infection on April 4.

Identified as a family member of Case 953, she was issued a home quarantine order on April 3. She is warded in an isolation room at the NCID.

She is employed as an administrative staff member at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital but had not gone to work since the onset of symptoms.

Update On Condition Of Confirmed Cases

MOH said that of the 500 patients who are still in hospital, most are stable or improving.

Twenty-six patients are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

The ministry added that 386 patients who are clinically well, but still test positive for Covid-19, are isolated and cared for at Concord International Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and the Community Isolation Facility at D’Resort NTUC.

Singapore also reported its sixth death from the coronavirus on Saturday, an 88-year-old man who died from complications due to Covid-19.
